On September 25, 2026, China celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival, known in Chinese as Zhongqiu Jie. It falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is at its roundest and brightest of the year. The festival began as a harvest celebration and a time to admire the full moon, and it has remained one of the most important traditional festivals in China. Families travel home to be together, share mooncakes, light lanterns, and retell the old story of Chang’e, the lady who lives on the moon.
